The United States Open Championship, commonly known as the U.S. Open, is the annual open golf tournament of the United States. It is staged by the United States Golf Association in mid-June, scheduled such that the final round is always played on the third Sunday, which is Father's Day. It is one of the four major championships in golf and is on the official schedule of both the PGA Tour and the European Tour.
This will be the third time that the Congressional has hosted the U.S. Open, the others being in 1964 and 1997. The first president of the club was Herbert Hoover, who would later assume a bigger leadership role by becoming the 31st President of the United States. Besides President Hoover, five other U.S. Presidents have been members of the club, including William Howard Taft, Woodrow Wilson, Warren G. Harding, Calvin Coolidge, and Dwight D. Eisenhower.
The beautiful Congressional Country Club was established in 1924, by its founders, Congressmen Oscar E. Bland, and O.R. Lubring, who wanted to create an environment where politicans and businessmen could congregate in an informal setting.
