The United States Open Championship, commonly known as the U.S. Open, is the annual open golf tournament of the United States. It is staged by the United States Golf Association in mid-June, scheduled such that the final round is always played on the third Sunday, which is Father's Day.

This will be the fifth time that the Olympic Club has hosted the U.S. Open, and past champions include Jack Fleck (1955), Billy Casper (1966), Scott Simpson (1987), and Lee Janzen (1998). The return to San Francisco will surley make for a scenic, competitive, and exciting tournament.
The U.S. Open Championship was first played in 1895 and is one of 13 national championships conducted by the USGA.
