Circuit de Monaco

The Monaco Grand Prix is the one race of the year that every driver dreams of winning. Like the Indy 500 or Le Mans, it stands alone, almost distinct from the sport from which it was born. A combination of precision driving, technical excellence and sheer bravery is required to win in Monte Carlo, facets which highlight the differences between the great and the good in Formula One.

The Armco barrier-lined circuit leaves no margin for error, demanding more concentration that any other Formula One track. Cars run with maximum downforce and brakes are worked hard. Overtaking is next to impossible so qualifying in Monaco is more critical than at any other Grand Prix.

The Portier corner is key to achieving a good lap time around Monaco. It is preceded by the Loews hairpin, the slowest corner in Formula One, and followed by the tunnel, one of the few flat-out sections of the track. Some great names have ended their races in the barriers here, most notably Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher.

To win in Monaco places a driver's name on a list that includes many of history's all-time greats. Both Graham Hill, the man nicknamed 'Mr Monaco', and Schumacher have won it five times, Alain Prost took four victories, whilst Stirling Moss and Jackie Stewart each won here three times. But the record of wins in the Principality resides with the Senna, who won in Monte Carlo six times.

The race has been a regular fixture of the world championship since 1955, but in that time the circuit has changed remarkably little. Slight alterations were made for the 2003 event, in particular a new, gentler entry to the Rascasse corner, with even bigger changes in 2004, with a new pit complex and increased spectator capacity.

Extra Ticketing Information

Monaco sell tickets as individual days so for the full weekend please add a ticket for each day i.e. Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday (Friday is no-race-day in Monaco). Thursday is a roving seat within the grandstands so there are no reserved seat numbers. Grandstands K and M (K-M) and N, O, and P (N-O-P) have shared access on the Thursday only. See below for the free Thursday ticket offer!

'Low' grandstand seating is located in the first rows of the grandstand, which is closer to the track but safety equipment such as fencing may reduce visibility. All others rows are classified as 'High'. Tribunes L High and T High have views into certain areas of the pits.

General Admission Rocher is a hillside viewing area and the natural rough terrain may not suit all spectators. We recommend arriving early in Rocher to get the best viewing experience as the area can become crowded for the Sunday race.

A free pit walk is offered on Friday between 2.30pm and 6.00pm for Saturday and/or Sunday grandstand and Sunday Rocher ticketholders.

Free Thursday Grandstand Ticket Special Offer

If you buy an adult ticket for the Thursday, Saturday and Sunday in the same grandstand in one order, you will receive the Thursday ticket free of charge. Discount applied at the checkout.

Child Tickets

Children aged between 6 to 15 years old are entitled to free entrance on Thursday (a ticket is still required) and discounted ticket prices on the Saturday and Sunday. The organisers ask that spectators do not bring children aged 5 and under because of the high noise levels. Identification may be required on the day for child ticket entry.

Disabled Tickets

Disabled viewing is handled directly by a Monaco disability organisation. Please contact us if you require more information.
